Privacy Policy
Essential A/B Testing “the App” provides the possibility to run A/B tests on your Shopify store by testing different theme templates, “the Service,” to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.
Personal Information the App Collects
The App collects your store name, email address, domains, shopify plan name, country code, shop currency, timezone and when store was created.
When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account:
- read_content – to analyze and test visual and written content across theme variants
- read_customer_events – to measure user behavior and engagement metrics during tests
- read_orders – to evaluate performance of template variations based on order data
- read_products – to map products to relevant test scenarios (e.g., product template testing)
- write_themes – to create and assign theme variations for testing
- write_pixels – to analyze and test visual and written content across theme variants
Technologies We Use
We use the following technologies to improve and track performance:
- Logging systems – These track actions occurring on the Site and collect data such as IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- Web beacons and pixels – Electronic files used to record how you interact with the site and templates under test.
- LocalStorage / SessionStorage – Used to manage user sessions and assign users to a test group consistently.
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
We use the personal information we collect from you and your store in order to:
- Provide and operate the A/B testing Service
- Assign traffic between template variants
- Analyze performance metrics
- Communicate with you about results and updates
- Improve our App and future features
