A tiered loyalty program has levels. Customers move up as they shop, and each level is worth more than the one below it.
A plain points program treats your weekly regular the same as someone who bought once and never came back. Tiers are how you tell them apart.
Nobody can buy their way in, which is what makes a level worth having. A year of shopping to reach the top means starting again from zero at any other shop.
How VIP tiers work, in three steps
Five tiers arrive with names, thresholds and earn rates already filled in. Change them, or leave them as they are. Nobody ever drops back down: tiers do not reset at the end of the year.
